Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a great honor for me to represent Georgia in our partner country - the Republic of Latvia.
The trust-based and historical friendly relations between our countries have been developing dynamically since the first days of the restoration of independence by Georgia and Latvia. The Georgian and Latvian people have chosen the path to democracy and progress, the common European values determine the special nature of our relations.
Georgia, which was granted a European perspective by the historic decision of the Council of the European Union on 24 June 2022 and in December 2023 became EU candidate country, has always benefited from Latvia's active support for our country to become a part of the European and Euro-Atlantic family. This support is clearly expressed in the international arena and has a positive impact on the dynamics of multilateral relations based on partnership and trust between our countries. We are grateful for Latvia's proactive support of Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
One of our main goals is to increase awareness of Georgia, its European aspirations, culture, art and sports in Latvia. I sincerely hope that the already existing bilateral cooperation in various fields will become even deeper and irreversible.
The main task of our Embassy is to protect the national interests of Georgia and the interests of Georgian citizens residing temporarily or permanently in Latvia.
