The annual Francophonie event

On March 19, 2025, under the auspices of the International Organization of La Francophonie, the annual Francophonie event was held at the Riga Latvian Society House on behalf of the ambassadors of Belgium, France, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Georgia, Canada, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Armenia accredited to Latvia. The event was officially opened by the Ambassador of Belgium, Karl Peeters.

Attendees, including representatives of Latvia’s legislative and executive authorities, as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Latvia, were welcomed by the Ambassador of Georgia to Latvia, Irakli Kurashvili. In his address, Ambassador Kurashvili highlighted Georgia’s cooperation with the International Organization of La Francophonie and the country’s historical ties with the Francophone world.

Following the official part of the event, a reception was hosted on behalf of the participating embassies, where guests had the opportunity to savor products from the host countries, including Georgian wine and "Borjomi" mineral water.
